A self-reported SLA figure survives right up until money depends on it. Then someone challenges the number, and a report built on assertion has nothing behind it but the word of the party being measured. The argument that follows is long, and nobody wins it on evidence, because there wasn’t any. A deterministic report behaves differently under challenge. It doesn’t ask to be believed. Every figure is measured, time-stamped and computed by rule, and the evidence pack carries the full working, the raw measurements from both vantage points, the breach against the contract terms, the credit calculation step by step, and enough provenance to run the whole thing again from source. So when the number is questioned, there is something to do other than argue. Your side, their side or an independent third party can take the same pack and re-compute the same result. The disagreement resolves against the record rather than against whoever pushes hardest. That is the difference between a report and evidence. One invites a dispute. The other tends to end one, not because it’s louder, but because everyone who checks it arrives at the same answer.
